2012 Dues Update

Mar 8, 2012   //   by oldfarmpool   //   General Announcements (pool closings, events), Notes from the President  //  No Comments

Who can believe it is already March and the pool opens for the 2012 season in about 11 weeks! Your Board of Directors has been working hard on finalizing the operating budget for the upcoming season and I am pleased to report that regular dues will remain the same, as they have since 2009. You will be receiving your invoice in the mail for the upcoming season shortly. As with previous seasons, we ask you to take advantage of the Early Bird rates in order to reduce your dues payment.

Despite not having increased dues, your Board has been diligently working to provide you with increased services and equipment to make your pool experience more enjoyable. We have completely repaired and replaced the flagstone in the picnic area, repaired the volleyball court, upgraded and repaired the paddle tennis courts, begun replacement of our aging deck furniture with new lounge chairs, upright chairs and umbrellas, purchased a new sound system and upgraded the website to keep everyone informed of events and important information.

Your Board of Directors Working to Improve Your Pool!

Additionally, the 2012 budget includes funds for continued replacement of the aging deck furniture with the purchase of additional chairs and umbrellas as well as the installation of a security camera system providing visibility of the pool property for security purposes. We hope this security system will discourage any after-hours mischief or activities that may occur on pool property, to include the parking lot.

Due to new regulations under the Americans with Disabilities Act for community pools and in the spirit of our continuing efforts to make our pool accessible to everyone in our community, we also have budgeted for the purchase and installation of a chair lift allowing members with disabilities or need assistance the ability to safely enter and exit the pool, thus making the entire pool area accessible for persons with disabilities. In addition, prior to the start of the 2013 season a new white coating will be required for the main pool. The County has granted us a waiver to wait until 2013, allowing us to prepare ourselves financially for this expense. The planning for this process will also, as required in the new Americans With Disabilities Act regulations for community pools of our size, include the installation of steps and a handrail system in the shallow end to improve access to the water for those who may need some extra help entering and exiting the pool.

The continued improvements offered to our members and guests do not come without a cost. Our operating budget is based almost exclusively on the dues from our members and fees we collect for guests and parties. As I mentioned, we have not raised dues in the past three seasons and given the improvements already implemented and required, the Board had developed the following dues structure. The good news is that the regular dues levels that have been in place since 2009 remain unchanged. We are, however, reducing the discount offered with the Early Bird option. Recognizing this, and as an added bonus with your membership, we will be providing you a free Guest Pass good for up to 10 visits, valid for this season only.

Listed below is the dues structure for 2012. Again, you will be receiving your invoice in the mail shortly.

We are grateful for your continued support of our community pool and look forward to you continuing your membership and involvement in the upcoming season. Also, be sure to tell your friends and neighbors, particularly those new to the community, about the fun and relaxation available to them and their families right here in their own backyard. Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you at the pool.
