Due to the unexpectedly large number of swimmers this year on the Old Farm Swim Team, our coaches will be using 5 lanes of the pool between 5:30 and 6:15 pm (45 minutes) each weekday evening until the end of the MCPS school year, which is June 16. Note that 15 of those 45 minutes occur during adult swim. After June 16, the team will begin holding additional morning practices, so we expect a normal afternoon usage pattern will develop at that time. We regret any inconvenience, and we will explore alternative arrangements for next year to avoid this arrangement. Thank you.
Over these past few years, it’s been a joy to watch the Old Farm team grow in size, spirit, skill, and all around fun. We are excited to be getting another summer underway and to watch the continued progress and development of an absolutely amazing community team!
We would like to share information on our FINS Summer Programs & Lessons that will be taking place this summer at Old Farm – these are in addition to normal swim team activities/practices. These are programs that swim team members and non-swim team-members alike can access throughout the summer. Additionally, non-members at Old Farm can also access these programs (in case you have family friends who are not members but may be in town for a bit of swimming!).
All Old Farm members can access these programs at a 15% discount!
Please take a look at this flyer and let us know if you have any questions whatsoever.

I can’t believe it’s already Memorial Day weekend! I hope everyone had a great offseason and are ready to start our great summer at Old Farm!
This Monday we will have our annual “meet and greet” with the coaches. We will gather on the basketball court at 5pm to discuss some important swim team news and introduce the new and returning coaches. We ask EVERYONE to come, both swimmers and parents, to catch up with summer friends and say a quick hi to the coaching squad. Here you can ask coaches and team reps any questions you may have. The meeting will take no more than 10 minutes and we would love everyone to join us!
Additionally, the coaches are very excited to begin practice Tuesday. Here is the practice schedule from May 30-June 16:
11& ups – 4:15 pm to 5:30 pm
10&unders – 5:20 pm to 6:15pm (stretches start at 5:20)
We’ll see you on Monday night at the pool.
Thanks, and GOOF!

The pool opening is right around the corner and this is your chance to help spruce it up for all to enjoy. Looking for volunteers to help with clean up and preparation of the grounds. If you are interested, please Sign-Up here (www.SignUpGenius.com/go/5080A45ADAC2FA75-oldfarm4) – depending upon numbers and how far along we have gotten, tasks will vary. In keeping with Old Farm’s well established social reputation, please note that all of the proposed times can fold nicely into a “happy hour” opportunity at the pool as we work. If we get a cadre, we’ll make that happen! If by chance you can’t make any of these times but would still like to help – just let me know and I’ll find a time and some tasks custom made for you.
Maybe you would just like to volunteer some plants from you garden. With the arrival of our beautiful new pavilion we hope to enhance the grounds around it. Specific plants are identified below. Please let me know if you have any.
- Gold Mop
- Limelight evergreen
Finally we also hope to start an herb garden, so we all have some lovely fresh herbs to enhance our poolside cuisine! If you have any perennial herbs that you would like to donate please indicate what they are below:
