We’re just a few short weeks away from our third annual Oktoberfest adults only party at the pool. Not only will we have fire pits, munchies and beverages of all types, but a live local party band too. We do need help in pulling off this event. We’d like to ask that you review our volunteer list to see what you can do to help. Thanks in advance!
Oh, and if you haven’t picked up your Oktoberfest tickets yet, you can do so here.
We’ve quickly come to the end of another great summer at Old Farm Pool. Many thanks to the countless volunteers who have helped organize and run our events and operations.

Labor Day Activities
On Labor Day, we will have concessions available from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. In addition, the Pizza Brama food truck will be returning to Old Farm from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM. At 6:00 PM, we will whistle the close of the 2016 season and make room for the dogs for our annual doggie dip. Also at that time, we will be asking for your help to collect and move the deck furniture into the pool house for the winter. We hope to see you there!
Mark Your Calendars for Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 8
We will be having our third annual Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 8 at 6:00 PM. This year, we’re excited to have a great local band, Driven to Clarity, providing the music. If you purchased tickets to our Rockin’ 2016 Kickoff Party (which was canceled due to weather), and you did not receive a refund, your tickets will be honored at this event. Otherwise, tickets are on sale here. This event is open to non-members, as well, so invite your friends!
Last Call for Lost-and-Found
Please be sure to check the lost-and-found before the end of the season. As always, we have a large number of items. We will be donating or disposing of these items at the end of the season.
Fun at the Club doesn’t have to stop on Labor Day!
All continuing and temporary members are invited to try out our pickleball and paddle tennis courts to see if they might like these games. Our active and growing number of pickleballers will be playing through the Fall and into the Winter, weather permitting. The paddle tennis season starts in October and generally goes through April. There is no additional charge for pickleball or paddle tennis if you are already a member of the Club. For further information on pickleball, please contact Rob Follit; for paddle tennis, please contact Scott Speier.
We’ll see you at the pool!
We have found a watch and a class ring that were left behind at the pool. If you are missing one of these items, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and describe your missing item.
And, as always, we have a bunch of other items (e.g., towels, goggles, water bottles, etc.) in our lost-and-found. We encourage you to peruse the items to see if you have lost anything.
We have a fantastic offer for you. How about custom Old Farm Pool wine and tumblers? Did we mention these are plastic (aka pool deck area safe)? We have eight different design options for you to choose from and each can be personalized with your name!
Old Farm Pool member Danielle Bennett is donating her time and effort to provide these cups to the members. What’s more, she’s donating 100% of the net profit to Old Farm Pool to start a fund to replace our (not so temporary) tent structure with a permanent, something-we-can-all-be-proud-of structure.
Go to this webpage to place your order. After entering the site, click on the style you’d like to order and then click the “buy photo” link at the top of the page. This will bring up the order form. Complete the form. If you would like for your order to be personalized, please add a note when prompted during the “checkout” process.
To save cost, we will be bulk ordering a single order. Therefore, if you are interested please place your order by end of day Friday, July 29th. We expect the order to take a couple of weeks to arrive.
Did you know that Old Farm his hosting MCDL Divisionals this year on Sunday, July 24th? And the only thing cooler than that are these shirts! So if you have a diver in your family, you can pre-order your shirt now. These will sell out, so “now” might be a good time to get one:http://store.oldfarmpool.org/item/mcdl-divisionals-tshirt-1
On Saturday, July 9 between 6:00 and 8:00 PM, there was a vandalism incident directly in front of the pool house. As you can see in the attached photos, designs were scratched or keyed into two cars parked in the parallel parking spots. Based on the type of designs and the proximity to the front doors, we suspect a child may have been responsible. If you were at the pool during that time, please talk to your children about the photos and find out if they know anything about the incident. Please forward any information you may have to email@example.com. Thank you. (Click on the photos to enlarge them.)
Update: We have received word that another car parked next to the handicapped parking spot was also affected, as shown below.
Greetings, Old Farm Members!
It’s hard to imagine we’re already approaching the halfway point of the pool season. Here are a few items of interest for July.
Kris Konstruction Happy Hour
Friday, July 15 from 5:30-7:30 PM
Our friends from Kris Konstruction will be sponsoring a happy hour at the pool this Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Kris will be providing the food and drink. If you don’t know Kris Konstruction, they are a company that specializes in hail damage repair. They have already replaced many of your neighbors’ roofs in Old Farm and North Farm. Kris representatives will be available to talk about working with your insurance company to potentially get a new roof as a result of the May 2nd hail storm. They can also set up a free no-obligation roof inspection. More information is available here.
We’ve been noticing an uptick in children being left at the pool without supervision. Please remember that our rules require children 10 and under to be supervised by an adult at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.
July 4th Recap
Despite cold and rainy weather, we had a great time at the pool on July 4th. In fact, our pool management company said we were the only pool they saw with a crowd on that day. Many thanks to all of the volunteers that made that day possible, but most especially to Katie Teitgen. I’m always impressed by the great patriotic spirit of our neighborhood on Independence Day!
Wedding Ring Found
We have an especially important item in our lost-and-found: a wedding ring. If you are missing a wedding ring, please e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org and describe what you’re missing.
We have lots of other lost-and-found items, so please take a look at the lost-and-found rack to find your missing items. It’s located near the entrance door and in front of the check-in desk.
That’s it for July. I hope to see you at the pool!

On Wed, June 22nd, kids from Old Farm swim team and F2BK Multisport Club had an opportunity for participate in the first Old Farm Pool Youth Splash & Dash. The event was hosted by Fit 2 B Kids (F2BK) Multisport Club and USAT Coach Christina Dorrer. Young athletes were organized by age groups and participated in a swim followed by a transition into sneakers and a run on the local trail. This event provided a unique opportunity for strong swimmers to use their skills in a multisport event. Many athletes who participated are not on a swim team and are not necessarily strong swimmers, but may excel in running. Still others participated for the enjoyment, exercise and club or race atmosphere. The Splash & Dash is a USAT Sanctioned event and is used to introduce kids to multisport events and the sport of triathlon which also includes biking. Kids in the F2BK Club are training for several local triathlons this summer.
The winners of each category in the Splash and Dash were:
Ages 7-8 (50 meter swim and .5 mile run) – Charlotte Chang with a time of 6:46
Ages 9-10 (100 meter swim and .5 mile run) – Kalen Wells with a time of 8:33
Ages 11-12 (100 meter swim and 1 mile run – Evan Wise with a time of 15:09
Ages 13 – 15 (150 meter swim and 1 mile run) – Chandler Detrich with a time of 10:34
There will be at least two more Splash & Dash events held on July 20th
and August 24th
. The goal for the kids is to see improvement in their time over the summer through training. The cost to participate is $15 and includes a T-shirt. For those kids who are not USAT members, a $10 membership is required which is good for any triathlon races or trainings for a full year (https://www.teamusa.org/USA-Triathlon/Membership-Services/Join-or-Renew
). Anyone interested in learning more about multisport activities and training can still join the F2BK Multisport Club! Information on the club is at www.Fit2BKids.com
or you can contact Christina@fit2bkids.com
