The 2011 season is underway and we have certainly gotten off to a good start. Swim and Dive team practices are held in the afternoons until Montgomery County Schools close and then we start morning practices in addition to afternoons. Our swim team has close to 125 swimmers and we have 45 registered divers. Those are great numbers!
Membership is is on track and right now we have almost the same number of members as we ended the 2010 season. Several of our returning Temporary Members have joined us as full Continuing families and we continue to look for our friends and neighbors who might be interested in joining. Just a reminder, that if you recommend a family that joins, as a “thank you”, we will give you a Guest Pass good for 10 guest visits. Purchased individually, that is a $50 value.
In the next few weeks there are many social activities coming up including the Wine & Cheese on Saturday June 11th. Pool closes for preparation at 5:30 pm on Saturday.
In only three weeks is our busiest day of the summer, July 4th!!! The committee is already starting to work of preparations for another fun-filled day of activities for our members and guests.
The Adult Luau is Saturday July 16th. More to follow as we get closer to that event.
Changes at the pool
Everyone certainly seems happy with the repaired patio area and the new umbrellas. We have ordered some replacement lounge chairs that should arrive before the end of June. We have purchased a new sound system for swim/dive meets and other occasions that will enhance those special events and we want to thank Mike Morper for his advice and support in that purchase. We are also very happy with our new management team and guards from Georgetown Aquatics. Many of the faces are familiar from previous summers, and we are glad to see the leadership from our Pool Manager, Jon Rogers.
Review of Pool Rules
While it is still early in the season, we should all take the opportunity to review the pool rules. Our Guard Staff will be enforcing all the rules and we ask for your cooperation in helping make sure all our members and guest comply. Rules are listed on our website and on the side of the pool building. I am including them below to help remind all of us.
Each member is expected to know and obey all the rules. Parents should advise their children of the rules and insist that they obey the instructions of the pool staff. Failure to comply may result in suspension of pool and club privileges.
Enjoy the Summer and Hope to See you at the Pool!
Thanks again to all the members of the Board of Directors and the volunteers who have helped start the 2011 season on such a great note.
