Kids Lock-in, Camp Out Tonight!

Jul 16, 2012   //   by oldfarmpool   //   General Announcements (pool closings, events), News  //  No Comments

Due to yesterday evening’s storm, we needed to postpone this fun event. But fret not. It’s on for tonight!

PLEASE RSVP again so we can plan for food and activities.  We know that, unfortunately, there will be people who can’t make it.  Hopefully, most still can or can at least join us for the evening activities if you can no longer spend the night.  Maybe we will even have a few people join who couldn’t make it last night.  Either way, please Tammi know if your kiddo can make it: twhazlett65@yahoo.com.  If anything changes:  like a chaperone can’t come or now can come, if you have to leave early or can now spend the night etc, please make sure to include that info in your RSVP.  Sorry for the inconvenience.  We want to make this a fun and safe event!

Summer Notes from the President – July 9, 2012

Jul 9, 2012   //   by President   //   General Announcements (pool closings, events)  //  No Comments

Hopefully we have all power back now and the extreme heat from last week has left us for a while.  I want to thank all of our members for the true sense of community shown by all last week as many of us dealt with not only no power at our homes, but welcoming our friends and neighbors from the community and TildenWood who also suffered thru the heat.

I received several very nice messages from our neighbors that I would like to share with everyone.  Although they are addressed to me, they apply to all Old Farm Swim Club members:

I totally agree about the “neighborhood gems”… Old Farm opened their doors to us for a week for practices and our entire membership!  It was a pleasure to celebrate the 4th of July in the neighborhood.  And Twin Falls opened their pool to us last weekend so we could swim a “home” meet against Stonegate.  And Woodley Gardens hosted our “home” B meet last week.  Thanks to all who opened your gates and were good neighbors!

You guys are awesome – to offer your pool to other neighborhoods,
during a heat wave and celebration activities is truly remarkable, and
is a tribute to you and your Board.

We, at Regency Estates, were invited with Shady Grove, to use
Hallowell for the A meet tonight (Monday).

Our “private clubs” are really not – they are neighborhood gems, and
truly do serve the community.

Dear Bruce-- Thanks so much to you and the Old Farm community
for opening your pool to Tilden Woods members during the last week.
You and your membership could not have been more welcoming and
generous. Having a place for my kids to hang out and see friends
while our power was out was a great help and eased a lot
of strain. Seeing friends from both pools at the July 4
party made what could have been a miserable day a lot of fun.
We're very glad to be part of the Old Farm/Tilden Woods
community. Again, many thanks. Hope the rest of your
summer is a good one for you and your pool!

Old Farm Pool has once again proven itself to be a true community
pool and I want to thank everyone!

July 4th: American Flag Neighborhood Sponsorship

Jul 2, 2012   //   by oldfarmpool   //   General Announcements (pool closings, events), News  //  No Comments

As usual, we are asking for voluntary sponsorships of $20 from families, who will then receive a “flag ” along the route of the parade. This sponsorship money helps us to keep providing fun activities for our members as well as important upkeep for our community pool! So please, if your family would like to sponsor a flag please get your check (payable to Old Farm Pool) to the guard shack by 5pm today! You can leave your donation in an envelope marked with “July 4th” – with your name (as you’d like it to read ) on the envelope. If you cannot make it to the pool by 5pm today, please contact Debbie Labonski by 5pm and she can make appropriate accommodations with you.

We love being able to keep improving and giving our members what they like in a neighborhood pool. BTW: the kids get a big kick out of seeing their family’s name in big print along the route. Believe me, I only made that mistake the first year I was here! Try explaining to YOUR kids why his family is the only one not listed! If your family are not yet members of our pool, you are so welcome, and please also consider a donation; this helps in our endeavor to provide this service to the whole  community every July 4th , and we would be proud to hang your names as donors as well!
