When: Signups at 9:30am at Farmland Elementary School; Parade begins at 10am
Details: The parade will be led by our friendly neighborhood Rockville Fire Department in their truck! During the parade we hold our bike and stroller (or any other mode of tranportation ) and pets decorating contest with judges along the route.
A friendly reminder that the FINS Programs will vary from their normal times the week of July 2 due to the holiday.
The Tuesday evening program (6:30-8:00) will be rescheduled to Monday evening (July 2, 6:30-8:00) because the swim meet that would usually be held on Wednesday is being rescheduled to Tuesday.
In addition, the mid-day program on Wednesday (which results in the addition of a second and third lane in the pool between noon and 3:00) will be rescheduled to Thursday (July 5, noon-3:00).
All facilities remain open while the FINS program is going on.

It is hard to believe that the pool has already been open for one month for this great 2012 season. Membership is strong with many new families joining us and actively participating in the many activities available for members of every age.
For those who were unable to attend, this past Saturday evening was the Adult Wine and Cheese event. A wonderful evening for all attendees with perfect weather. Special thanks to Board Members Scott Speier, (and Mary Jo), Marla Caplon and Debbie Labonski for all the hard work. Also thanks to the Gaultier family for arranging the great live music.
We have several more social events coming up in the next few weeks including the Adult Luau, we would certainly like to see everyone join us for that on Saturday July 14th.
One quick reminder to all that if you or your kids are playing in the volleyball court, please make sure you shower all the sand off of you before entering the pool. The foot shower is conveniently located between the volleyball court and the pool!
Thanks, and see you all at the pool!

This Wednesday, June 27th, we will leave after morning swim practice. However, morning practice will be abbreviated. The team will only practice from 8 – 9:00am with all age groups attending at that time. Hopefully we can get on the road by 9:15-9:30am. It should take a little less than 1 hour to get there but I’d like to have at least 1 1/2 to be sure.
We will rent tubes from Harpers Ferry Adventure Center (formerly Butt’s Tubes) in Purcellville, VA (located at the northern tip of Loudoun County, 15 miles northwest of Purcellville, Virginia. They are 4 miles from the Harpers Ferry National Historic Park in West Virginia, and less than a ½ mile from the Potomac River.):

Water aerobics is an exercise program for all ages. If you are a member of the Old Farm Pool, don’t miss this exciting opportunity to try a free class this Thursday, June 28th at 7:30PM! Non-members can participate for a drop-in fee of $10.
This water fitness program is provided by the Wet yet? Water Fitness Company. Classes are held for 45 minutes in water that is chest-deep and provide a low-impact but challenging cardiovascular workout. Participants will exercise to music and perform a variety of motions including water walking and running, abdominal work and toning exercises. This class is designed to burn fat and increase cardiovascular fitness, range of motion and muscle tone.
More class Information? Email Suzanne Stack (email@example.com) For more information on Wet Yet Water Fitness, please visit www.wetyetwaterfitness.com.
Not too late to register!
Just a friendly reminder that both water aerobics and masters swim started last week. And don’t forget that we have also reintroduced early morning swim at the pool too!
Please join us this Saturday evening for our Annual Wine and Cheese Party. This annual event is a great way to start off the pool season and chat with neighbors and meet new friends. The event begins at 7:30 pm. Cost per guest is $20 in-advance and $25 at the door. You can pay by dropping a check or cash off at the pool (front desk) in a sealed envelope marked “Wine & Cheese.” On the outside of the envelope, please write the name(s) of who would be attending. [The pool has envelopes on hand. If the staff does not know where they are, please inform them that they are in the middle cupboard above the counter.] Members are allowed to bring guests who are not pool members.
You must actually pay in-advance to receive the discounted rate. Unlike in year’s past, you can not just sign up early to receive the discount. The advance sign ups help us to better estimate the expected attendance. If you have any questions, please email Scott Speier (firstname.lastname@example.org), our resident wine expert who runs this event every year. We hope to see you there.
FINS, a program run by Nick Kaufman dedicated to teaching swimmers better techinque, has begun its summer program at Old Farm Pool. Between now and the end of July, FINS will be using lanes at the pool on the following schedule:
Afternoons: Noon – 3:00 PM, Monday – Friday
Evenings: 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday
While there may be as many as two extra lanes used in the pool at these times, all facilities will be open for use by the membership, including most of the main pool’s swimming area (along with the entire shallow end, diving well, and the “baby” pool).
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the FINS program, or you are interested in signing up for FINS, please contact Jay Matson at email@example.com.
