Notes from the President – June 15th

Greetings all,

Pool membership is up, Swim and Dive teams are in full swing with lots of new faces and the water temperature is perfect.  Come on up and enjoy the pool.

A note from our friends at TildenWood pool:

Monday 6/15, TW hosts an End of School Party form 2 PM to 4 PM.  All middle school aged kids and younger are welcome to come to the pool where we’ll have games, fun activities, and snacks, featuring Carmen’s Italian Ice.  (Old Farms members are welcome as if it were a “swap day”.  Normal guest policies apply to other friends.)

Just a reminder, if you have not seen it, we have prominently posted a list of all the pool rules on the wall of the pool house near the ladies locker room.  Please take a moment to review them as our Lifeguard staff is strictly enforcing the rules.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the pool!

Bruce

Notes from the President – 2015 Pool Season

Greetings all!  The 2015 season is off to a great start.  It is nice seeing all of you return and I’d like to welcome our new members.

We have received some very positive feedback about out new membership management system and it is proving to be a great asset in tracking who is at the pool.

I would like to remind all of you that there should be no food or drink on the pool deck.  Please keep all food and liquid refreshments either on the patio or at the tables at the edge of the deck.   Thanks for your cooperation on this.

As a reminder, Saturday June 6th is the Wine and Cheese event at the pool starting at 7:00 pm.  We are happy to have the Whippoorwills return this year to provide us music for the evening.

Adult Wine and Cheese Party This Saturday

May 30, 2015   //   by oldfarmpool   //   General Announcements (pool closings, events), News  //  No Comments

A highly scientific study was recently conducted and its findings were fascinating. It concluded that second only to the first day of school, the Old Farm Pool Adult Wine and Cheese Party is the most celebrated day of the year for parents in the Old Farm community.

So get that sitter, find something for those teens to go do and plan to have a great time with your neighbors at the pool Saturday night. Tickets purchased by June 1st are only $20 each, but go up to $25 after that date.

Old Farm Pool and Tilden Woods Pool exchange days continue for 2015 season

May 19, 2015   //   by oldfarmpool   //   General Announcements (pool closings, events), News  //  No Comments

The two pools in the Greater Farmland community, Old Farm and Tilden Woods, have been a source of fun, relaxation and excitement in the community for many, many years.

As presidents of our respective pools, we wanted to remind the community and our members that the long tradition of membership exchange days continues. On Tuesdays and Thursdays members from each pool can enjoy the amenities at the other pool as if you were a member.

Each pool will be implementing a computer based check-in system. Therefore the process, although simple, will be different than previous years. When you get to the front desk at either pool, sign in on the membership log with your first & last name and and tell the person at the front desk which pool you’re from and who your “pool sponsor” is when visiting. Remember, both of our neighborhood pools require a member to sponsor any guests. After your first visit, your name will be added to the pools’ computer based check-in systems, however you may still be asked to sign in on the membership log for subsequent visits.

Please note that on all other days (non-exchange days), members of one pool will be considered as a guest at the other pool. Normal guest fees and guest policies will apply on non-exchange days.

We really look forward to our members taking advantage of the opportunity to spend time with their friends at the other pool and enjoy all that the neighborhood has to offer.

Wishing you a wonderful summer,
Bruce Kay and David Sukinik

2. Music by Drive Shaft

3. Who?

This is an adult gig only (get a sitter) so let your hair down and have fun! Members and non-members alike are welcomed. Tickets: www.oldfarmpool.org/rockin2015

Membership cards are in for 2015 members!

May 9, 2015   //   by oldfarmpool   //   General Announcements (pool closings, events), News  //  No Comments

As you may recall, one of the new investments we’ve made for the pool this year is a membership automation system. Not only does it significantly improve the member registration process, but it also helps us account for who is at the pool at any point in time.

A great benefit of the system is a streamlined means to sign in each time you or any of your family members are at the pool. This is done courtesy of our new Old Farm Pool membership cards. Beginning this season, all members — even the “littlest eagle” in your nest — will have their very own membership card. A simple bar code scan and you’re checked in for the day.

Cards will be available at the front desk upon your first visit. And for those of you attending this upcoming weekend’s rockin’ preseason kickoff party at the pool (featuring the music of Drive Shaft), you can get your family’s cards there (please show closer to 6pm for pickup).

Caring for our trees

May 9, 2015   //   by oldfarmpool   //   General Announcements (pool closings, events), News  //  No Comments

During the off season, we work on all sorts of projects to help improve our pool and it’s amenities. And the trees are no exception. So what happened to our favorite shade tree you ask? We recently had a tree specialist come in and do an assessment of all the trees on the property. He found a stress crack in the large tree on the east side of the pool near the guard stand. In looking at the options it was either cut down the whole tree or cut the large limb before it broke during a storm and potentially damaged the pool or hurt someone.  With much concern,  we opted to cut the limb in the hope to save the entire tree.
