Tilden Woods Pool is hosting it’s 3rd annual Crab Feast and you are invited! The feast is held on Sunday, September 1st between 5pm-8pm.
Shoreline Seafood, Inc. will prepare and serve all you can eat steaming hot crabs along with ribs, barbecued food and many side dishes on-site. Every table at the pool grounds will be covered and ready for crab crackin’. This is a BYOB (bring your own beverage) party. Load up your coolers and join your family and friends for the last event before the pool shuts down for the season.
Due to limited table space, Tilden Woods can only allow 100 people to attend. So RSVP to Yvonne Levine at email@example.com with speed – first come, first served! It is important that you provide me an accurate head count with the number of kids and adults in your group, I cannot make any alternations to the headcount after 08/21 and you will be asked to pay the full amount.
The cost per person is $32. 12 and younger $22 and is not-for profit event. Checks can be made payable to TWRA and should be given to me the day of the event.

Greetings everyone. As you know, we have upgraded or added several new fun activities for our members including the new tot lot, upgrading of the volleyball and basketball courts, restoration of the shuffleboard court and adding a Cornhole set for our members enjoyment. Unfortunately, all of the beanbags for the cornhole set are missing. Please check your pool bags and see if maybe the beanbags may have accidentally been brought home. If so, please bring them back to the pool so everyone can play!
We are near the finish line…as the tot lot should be completed in the coming week! We are excited to have a dedicated area for the little ones to play when not in the water. One of the ways that we helped raise money for the tot lot was through donations of commemorative bricks by members of the community. We have learned from conversations that some who would like to donate were unsure whether they had actually bought a brick. So before we submit the final order for the bricks, we wanted to thank all of those who have already made donations and ask any who have not if they might consider it as part of your legacy with the pool. It is so simple to order a brick with your customized message. Just visit: https://www.bricksrus.com/order/oldfarmbricks. We have extended the final deadline to order to July 26 by midnight.
Thank you again to all the families and community members that have generously donated so far:

The heat of July is certainly here and it is bringing lots of people to the pool. Parents, a gentle reminder that if you have very young children that you are bringing into the main pool, please make sure they are wearing swim diapers and watch them very closely and if necessary, get them out of the water before they have a diaper accident. We had two incidents within the last week where the pool had to be closed due to children having “accidents” in the pool. Depending on what is deposited in the water, it could require the pool to be closed for up to eight hours. Not fun in this weather! Thanks.
One other reminder, there should not be any drink containers, glass or cans in the pool at any time. The Lifeguard staff has been reminded that there is no drinking allowed in the pool. If you bring beverages, of whatever kind, please be careful and consume beverages away from the water and preferably in the flagstone/patio area. Recycle bins are located around the deck area for you to clean up your empties. Thanks!!
In other news, the shuffleboard court is now finished, available for use and I have already challenged Rob Follit to a game! As many of you have seen, ground preparation for the installation of the tot lot has started, and if all goes well, it could be complete and officially opened in time for the Kid’s luau on July 23rd! Thanks to all who donated to this great pool improvement.
Volunteers, Volunteers, Volunteers!!!!! If you don’t volunteer, you don’t get to complain. We need volunteers. It is our goal that Old Farm Pool remains the place to be all summer long with activities for everyone. This takes volunteers. We will be putting posters around the pool asking you to sign up. With over 260 families, if every family volunteered two or three hours a season, we can really add to the fun of the pool. We need people to help set up Volleyball and basketball tournaments for kids and adults, special events including helping with concessions on Memorial Day, Labor Day and July 4th and other activities. We also want to establish a teen volunteer committee to provide events and support for our teens at pool events.
Monday 7/8 is Teen Night at Tilden Woods Pool for middle school aged kids and up. The Flippin’ Pizza truck will be there too! Teen night is an exchange night so we hope to see our Old Farm Pool friends there!
It’s time to celebrate America with our Annual July 4th Parade!
The Greater Farmland Civic Association invites one and all to join in the parade from Farmland Elementary School to Old Farm Pool, which will be open to everyone after the parade.
The parade starts at 10:00 am at Farmland and will be led by firetrucks from the Rollins Station of the VFD. Anyone with a vintage convertible is welcome to join the parade.
So start decorating your bikes, trikes, wagons or yourselves in red, white and blue!
We will be awarding prizes in the following categories:
Best Bike with training wheels or Tricycle
Best other forms of transportation (scooters, rollerblades, basically, anything that is powered by humans but is not a bike).
Also, show your community spirit by sponsoring an American Flag! They will be lining the Parade Route and your family name will be prominently displayed underneath your flag. Your family can sponsor a flag for only $20.
Space is limited. Please sign up soon. Contact Kristen Mirsky firstname.lastname@example.org to sponsor a flag. Pay by check (made out to GFCA) or cash (in sealed envelope with your name and phone number) and drop it off either at my house or with Kristen. Please tell us how you would like your name plate to read: eg: THE RICH FAMILY, or LAURA AND ED RICH.
We also need judges to judge the Parade entries and people to help with set up on the morning of the 4th. If you can do either, please e-mail me as soon as possible.
Let’s have a great parade!

Well the pool has been open for almost a month and the 2013 season is off to a great start. The improvements we made over the winter have already proven to be big hits, especially the new stairs into the shallow end, the basketball court, volleyball court and almost completed shuffleboard court. Special thanks to Rob Follit who organized and in many cases did most of the improvements himself. Our membership numbers are strong, and we can always accommodate new members. If new neighbors have moved on your street, invite them to try us out! Pat May will provide them all the information they need to join.
The new plantings around the dive well and baby pool provide nice fresh look to the pool. The volunteers who worked with Rob Follit, Scott Speier and Ed Rich digging, tilling, cutting, mulching and planting have greatly improved the pools appearance.
Due to the great fundraising efforts of Suzanne Stack and all the volunteers helping her, we will be installing the new tot lot within the next few weeks rather than our originally anticipated time of next season! Thanks to all for your great help.
Our swim and dive teams are off to a great start this season and everyone is happy with our coaching staffs. Thanks to Jay Matson, Griff Lindsay, Connie Jacobson and all the volunteers helping to keep the teams going. Dave Ohlrich has been working closely with Georgetown Aquatics and the guard staff to ensure we have a safe pool for our members and guests.
We have some fun social events coming up including the Wine & Cheese, an adult social evening and weekly beer and Pizza Friday nights! Come up and join in the fun and meet your fellow pool members. Marla Caplon, Amantha Linkie and their team are all busy planning for many fun events.
Thanks again for the hard work that our Board of Directors is doing and thanks to all the volunteers who donate time and effort to improve the Old Farm experience!
Thanks and see you at the pool!
Wouldn’t a new playground at the pool be great?
Please buy a brick and all proceeds will go toward purchasing a new playground for our kids. Plus, your kid(s) can see his or her name on a brick for many years to come!
Maybe you think your kid is too old to play on the playground. You can still purchase a brick to help support the pool, and big kids like to see their names on bricks too!
But hurry!! The brick fundraiser ends July 15, 2013!!!
Three easy ways to purchase a brick:
1. Pick up an order form at the front desk at the pool.
2. Order a brick online at https://www.bricksrus.com/order/oldfarmbricks
3. Print out an order form from the Old Farm Pool Website https://oldfarmpool.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/ofpBrickOrderForm.pdf
Thank you to all the families who have already bought bricks, donated money, and supported the fundraiser!
