Old Farm hosted the first Women’s Super B tournament on Saturday, February 20, 2021 with 16 players from clubs in the Metro DC area. It was an exciting day of paddle, despite the extreme cold, blustery wind and icy conditions.
Eight teams paired up to compete in a main draw, consolation rounds, reprieve or last chance bracket with a guaranteed 3-match minimum. Sandy DeCain and Liz Forgione won in a 3-set match against their opponents, Mary Fauth and Susan Komoso, in the finals to take the prize as the winners of the inaugural tournament.
Beth Hunter and Liz Browne, the tournament co-chairs, were thrilled with the success of the tournament in large part due to Karen Friedman with Long and Foster for sponsoring the event and assistance and support from Ed Staunton, Kent Hunter, Langdon Hample, and Chris Hitler.
Another tournament is planned for next year!
