2025 PRACTICE SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday, 5:30-6:30 and 6:30-7:30 (one hour per diver) starting the day after Memorial Day (Tuesday).

Coaches help athletes gain strength and confidence in a safe environment while having fun along the way. Divers will develop their skills in proper technique, as they progress through various dives at their own pace.

In 2024 we also offered daytime practices on certain days of the week.  We hope to do so again this year, most likely Wednesdays at 10:30am.  If your diver is also on swim team and practices conflict, they can join dive practice in the times that work for them.  Get in touch with us to discuss the details.

2025 DIVE MEET SCHEDULE:

Parent Participation Required

MCDL dive meets require every family to provide a parent volunteer for all meets that their diver attends.  Most jobs can be quickly mastered by a rookie!  We will provide a volunteer training for parents early in the season.

One parent from each family must take the MCDL-sponsored training for Judges and Referees.  If this presents a hardship for your family, please discuss with the team representatives.

Dive meet scores, records and other resources can be found at MCDL website.

Gender Inclusivity Policy

Montgomery County Diving League uses binary gender categories.  While MCDL policy supports athletes in competing in the category that aligns most closely with their gender identity, it does not currently offer categories that are a clear fit for agender, nonbinary, genderfluid, or genderqueer athletes.  We support these athletes in diving on our team.  Unfortunately they will have to choose to compete as “boys” or “girls” for the duration of the 2025 season.  We will continue to advocate for full inclusivity in MCDL and all youth sports.  Read the MCDL policy here.

Meet Our Coaches

Head Coach – Katie Young

Katie has served as our head coach since 2017, with great results!  We have moved up TWO divisions during her time with us.  During the fall, winter, and spring seasons, Katie can also found coaching for Montgomery Dive Club.

Previously, Katie coached at Old Georgetown Swim and Tennis Club, where she achieved success as both a diver and a coach.  She was a perennial All-Star for Old Georgetown during her diving days, and coached them to a second place finish in MCDL’s highly competitive Division I in 2016.  Katie also competed as a member of Montgomery Dive Club’s National Team and Walter Johnson High School’s dive team (Captain) until her graduation in 2014.

Assistant Coach – Maggie Menard

This is Maggie’s 5th season as a beloved Assistant Coach.  Maggie excels at building relationships with each diver and challenging them in the ways that work for them.   She is passionate about diving and warmly encourages divers to keep trying new skills.  Maggie also leads our spirit committee, planning Fun Friday events and keeping our team spirit up!

Assistant Coach – Oliver Forrest

Currently coaching his 5th season of Old Farm divers, Oliver started as an accomplished diver himself.  Diving year round with Montgomery Dive Club, Oliver received excellent training in the technical aspects of the sport.  This training enabled him to compete in 2019 in the Dutch national diving championship, where he earned the gold medal on platform and bronze on the 1 and 3 meter springs.  Oliver has also been a diver for Walter Johnson High School, where he is in the top 10 all time high scorers for the school.

Assistant Coach – Colin Brannan

Now in his 11th and final year as an Old Farm diver, Colin is passing his knowledge on to new divers as an Assistant Coach.   Colin trained year round with Montgomery Dive Club in 2023 and 2024, and was a member of their 2024 Junior Olympic team.  Colin enjoys sharing how diving has helped him manage his ADHD, and especially loves encouraging other neurodivergent divers.  Colin can often be found challenging the team to a planking contest on deck.

Junior Coach – Yahel Cohn

A highly skilled diver himself, Yahel is mentoring younger divers this year as a Junior Coach.  He strives to be a friend to every diver on the team.  Yahel can be found assisting our other coaches with whatever they need at practice and at meets.

Assistant Coaching is an opportunity for experienced Old Farm divers to teach younger divers the fundamentals of diving.  In addition to being dedicated members of our team, our Assistant Coaches have received training from Montgomery Dive Club and other year-round diving programs.  Contact OldFarmDive@gmail.com for an application.

Post Season Dive Clinics- Dates TBD

Try diving for the first time, work on a new dive, or brush up on your skills!  Head Coach Katie Young will be on deck to coach divers of all levels.  This event is open to all members of Old Farm Pool and is a great way to try the sport of diving before next season.
